Arrangement is a modification of a musical piece in order to make it more beautiful. It could be either a renown or unknown theme. The arranger is in charge of “making up” using orchestration and sound effects which strengthen the expressivity of the original composition.
Listen to this first example in its original version and then, as a final result after being arranged and recorded.
According to the requirements, the arranger suggests the number of instruments to be used (Solo piano, strings quartet, big-band, symphonic orchestra), the musical genre (Bolero, Cha-cha, Rock and the fusion of different genres), the speed and other.
The arranger should control the possibilities and limits of each instrument, know how to balance the sound power and combination of each one. It is also necessary a sense of aesthetics, a wide knowledge of different musical genres and sub-genres as well as knowing the new musical trends.
